Radio Commercials - Donald Sinden

Over the years we have run radio commercials on Premier Radio, London. This has been fun and challenging at the same time. The old saying, 'Half of all advertising doesn't work but nobody knows which half' has a cerain resonance. One of the keys is a great script. The next is getting somebody to read it, and then there is the production side.

Donald Sinden is one of the most famous British actors of all time. Donald has an extrordinarily recognisable voice which in some ways characterises much of British cinema of the 1950's. Our ads were voiced by Donald in 1996. It was a pleasure to work with him. One of the ads was based on Dickens' famous call to fiscal prudence delivered in Mr Micawber's memorable line, 'Income twenty pounds, expenditure nineteen pounds nineteen shillings and sixpence, result: happiness. Income twenty pounds, expenditure twenty pounds and a penny, result: misery!' Donald's skills extended to helping us rewrite the scripts midway through the session! A true professional.
